Center for Professional Responsibility Directory of Lawyer Disciplinary Agencies
The American Bar Association is a
voluntary national professional association that has no legal authority to adjudicate or
intervene in lawyer licensing or disciplinary matters. All lawyer disciplinary matters are
handled in each state by the agency designated to do so by the state's highest court.
Complaints about a lawyer's conduct should be addressed to the agency in the state in
which the lawyer is licensed. A directory containing the names and addresses of each
lawyer disciplinary agency follows. Appeals of the disciplinary agency's decision must
also be accomplished at the state level, by petitioning the state's highest court.
